Here is an update concerning the severe weather threat, primarily on Friday afternoon. A few strong storms cannot be entirely ruled out this afternoon or Saturday, but the relatively greater threat will be Friday afternoon.

WHAT: MARGINAL RISK of Severe Weather
WHEN: Primarily during the afternoon hours on Friday
WHERE: All of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi, especially west of Interstate 59.
CONFIDENCE:
There is some uncertainty how far east organized storms will reach in the local area Friday afternoon before they dissipate.
Impacts:
The main threats associated with any severe storms will be:
Wind gusts greater than 60 mph will be possible
In addition to the severe weather threat, locally heavy rainfall will be possible with stronger storms.
This rainfall could lead to ponding of water in low lying areas and areas of poor drainage.
