Here is an update concerning the risk for strong to a few severe storms Thursday Night into Friday morning,

Overview:

WHAT: A Slight to Marginal Risk for Severe Weather

WHEN: Thursday Night through Friday morning.

WHERE: Areas generally along and west of I-59, especially NW areas. 

CONFIDENCE:

There is an overall LOW to MEDIUM confidence of severe weather late Thursday Night into early Friday morning.

There is greater confidence for a few strong/ isolated severe storms over the Slight Risk area across western/northwestern areas.

There is also growing confidence with respect to the line of storms weakening during its progress east of I-59 to the MS coast and coastal SE LA. The risk for severe weather will be much lower to the south (including coastal SE LA) with the line eventually weakening as it continues across coastal MS early Friday morning. 

Impacts:

The main threats associated with any severe storms will be:

Damaging Winds:

·  Severe thunderstorms will be capable of wind gusts greater than 60 mph.

Tornadoes:

·  A few isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

Rainfall:

·  Due to the likely quick speed of the line of storms, flash flooding is not a current substantial threat at this time for the local area. However, can't rule out minor flooding in isolated areas from intense rain rates (especially in the Marginal Risk area below). Rainfall totals of around 0.25 to 1" can be expected, with locally higher amounts.
